Fresno Area Young Adults

Connecting Values Description

Mission Statement:   To nurture inward with grace, healing and growth for Adventist young adults in the Fresno area Body of Christ and to reach outward to the unchurched young adults in the Fresno area.

I.                   FAITH It is our goal to seek and affirm a way of getting to know Jesus personally through Adventist values.  This onward growth aids us in progressing from a cognitive understanding of Bible truth, reaches the heart, and enables us to live a life of faith.

II.        SAFE PLACES. In an effort to address separatism and divisiveness in the Fresno Area, it is our aim to provide safe place where honest dialogue can occur among all Young Adults to foster growth, and avoid polarization.

·         A safe place is defined as an environment that is free from condemnation; where personal choices are respected, and each soul is accepted and loved unconditionally.

·         Polarization is defined as a condition where barriers are instead set up, and the true Gospel of Christ is distorted through partial proclamation from different sides.

III.       HEALING. Because of our sinful nature, we all fall short. Our goal is to exemplify Christ’s compassion and forgiveness to Young Adults who feel disenfranchised, so the experience of the Cross of Christ can build trust, and a sense of family can be established.

IV.       VALUING OUR GIFTS.  Not only is the realization of the spiritual gifts of each Christian believer an integral part of the body of Christ, but recognizing the value of these gifts is an essential part of our spiritual edification.

V.        COMMUNITY. By implementing the other connecting values, we hope to promote a stronger sense of community, not only among Young Adults but also between all generations.

VI.       DISCIPLESHIP. All activities will focus towards an onward growth in discipleship, for all members are potential leaders in Christian ministry.

VII.          EVANGELISM. Missionary service to the churched and unchurched Young Adults will be organized:

A.    To more effectively reach within our own spheres of influence by working together in friendship and ministering in the local churches.

B.     To adopt outreach projects ministering outside our immediate circle of influence:  Mission service to the Greater Fresno area and the world.
